Career Paths

Creative goals

- Establish a reputation as a reliable illustrator, including building a linked in presence.

- Establish an online presence, currently have Instagram (1k followers) Facebook, website that needs work, linked in which needs work.

- Land a junior position at a company

- Open an online store for prints as an extra income stream

- Build a really good portfolio

- Have enough work to tailor my CV to different companies

I am open to working in pretty much any creative sector, I just want to get my foot in the door. Down the line may present more opportunities to pick and choose work but for now I want to have a Yes attitude to all opportunities.

I know I don't enjoy packaging, it just didn't stimulate me creatively. I don't want to be freelance, I want to know what my income is each month while I am establishing myself, stability is really important to me. I am open to working anywhere in the country, potentially abroad but my partner also needs to be able to find work there if that's the case, we would much prefer to be in the UK.

I am concerned about my social anxiety getting in the way of my progress in industry, especially when it comes to pitching things and promoting myself. I am able to take rejection and criticism very well, but I don't find it easy to be around people a lot of the time.

My goals for the next 5 years:

Initially my main goal will be to get into a junior design job. This may start with an internship which I have begun searching for. I plan to apply for the VCCP internship, and I hope I am successful but I will also be looking for backup plans as I know I'm going to receive a lot of no's, especially early on. Developing an online presence will help me to potentially create multiple income streams. I would like to reach out to companies that interest me and ask them if they would look at my work, and even if they don't have any roles available i would like to ask them what they would be looking for when hiring so I can make sure I meet the skills required when they do have an opening. If I can find a creative way to get companies to look at my work that would also be really useful as they may contact me down the line even if nothing comes up to begin with.
